Sprinkools systems have come full circle!
The concept of Sprinkool Systems Intl. Inc. was started in Texas on a
hot summer day in the late l970s. Mr. J.L. Smith ,who later formed the company in
1981, decided to cool his roof with a spray of water to eliminate the solar heat
penetrating his home and reduce his air conditioning power bill. He worked with several
ideas; soaker hoses, pipes with punched holes of various diameters and configurations and
lawn sprinklers. The results were greater than anticipated. His a/c power bill dropped
25%, but these initial attempts lacked satisfactory distribution of the water and the
early controls emitted either too much or too little water. These problems were eventually
solved with solid state controllers and a spray head he designed specifically for roof
mist cooling. The relatively high cost of solid state controllers available at the time
proved cost-effective for large commercial and industrial buildings, but not for the
average home. Still, over the years, the company has had numerous requests for a Sprinkool
roof cooling system suitable for homes, workshops and smaller facilities. With advances in
solid state controller technology and significant reductions in cost, the Sprinkool
Systems Intl. Inc. has come full circle with their development of their HydroKool System.
HydroKool is shipped as a kit with all the material needed for the installation of
a simple 2500 square foot roof. Some of components include: UVRPVC tubing
(specifically made for Sprinkool Systems Int'l., Inc.), Sprinkool sprayheads
with various misting tips, supports, fittings, roof and tubing
adhesives, solenoid valve, sensor, wire, controller, installation manual and typical
installation drawings. Additional components are available if required.
Note:
The water pressure needed for this system to operate effectively is 35
plus PSI at the highest misting point on the roof.
Due to the vast varity of styles of residental roofs, individual home
designs are not available.
