FR-2000 Sprayhead:
After a 500 cycle testing program and a zero failure rate, Sprinkool Systems Int'l., Inc.
of Killen, Alabama, released its FR-2000 All Weather Kool-Blue Sprayhead in 2000.
The testing program consisted of random samples of the new sprayhead being frozen solid,
thawed and instantaneously pressurized to 150 psi, over twice the normal operating
pressure. After subjecting the samplings 500+ times, one might ask, "Why not
call it Freeze Proof?" Jim Smith, P.E., CEO, founder of Sprinkool Systems and
designer of the black sprayhead, and the new FR-2000 replies, "After another 1000 or
so cycles, maybe we will. Until then, we'll say its "Freeze
Resistant"."
Blue in color, the new sprayhead has a higher UV Resistance than the older version, and
adds the ability to compensate for the extreme pressures that occur when water changes
phase from a liquid to a solid.
The Sprinkool Sprayhead is molded from high density, ultra violet
resistant ABS and Celecon polymers (for long life in all climates and in any weather
condition). Each sprayhead has a stainless steel filter to provide zero maintenance
due to clogging (guaranteed for the life of the system). The sprayhead has been
designed specifically to distribute a very small quantity of water (less than one gpm)
evenly over a 10 to 20 foot diameter, at a height of less then 2 feet. With
interchangeable orifices and tips, the Sprinkool Sprayhead can be tailored to any roof and
its obstructions. Over 450,000 Sprinkool Sprayheads are in service throughout the United
States and in many foreign countries.
The black sprayhead, which is not freeze resistant, was phased out in
1998 and replaced by the new FR-2000 in 1999. The FR-2000 sprayhead is the exclusive
product of and is only available from Sprinkool Systems, Killen, Alabama.
